How Will Brexit Affect Me?
Immigration laws, trade processes, education agreements and more have been affected by Brexit. This means all manner of non-UK citizens and business owners may have to adjust to the new UK and European immigration systems and associated laws. Following the end of the grace period on 30th June 2021, there will be further changes to immigration laws such as the EU Settlement Scheme and right to work checks for EU citizens.
Personal
Individuals from the EU who wish to move the UK to study, work or live will have to follow similar routes to non-EU nationals:
EU citizens resident the UK prior to 1st January 2021 can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme. EU citizens who move to the UK after 1st January 2021 will most likely have to be sponsored, similar to that for non-EU nationals. A host of visas will be available to EU and non-EU citizens under the new UK Points-Based Immigration System including Skilled Worker, Global Talent, Start-Up and Innovators, Post Graduate Work and more.
Business
Businesses in the UK will likely have to implement further checks as part of the right to work checks for EU citizens. Additionally, businesses will need sponsor licences to hire EU and non-EU citizens following the transition.
